[ When Baelish appears on the screen, he is sitting comfortably in his office, the camera propped up on the desk and his hands fold together across the surface. The gleam of his mockingbird sigil is evident at his collar as is the jeweled Narnia hunting pin on his sleeve. A physical sign of his and Lucy's alliance far before he even speaks the words. ]
Greetings to my fellow imPorts, old and new.
My name is Petyr Baelish, the Lord part of my name is optional of course. When I first addressed the network, it was to talk about your thoughts and feelings toward this war and the ambassadors who served each of the imPort cities. I received a lot of valuable feedback and made some interesting friendships because of it. And now, I come to talk to you about the same things -- only this time as a man who will be running to represent you in the city of Maurtia Falls.
I suppose I should begin by talking a bit about myself and my background.
[ It's story time. Baelish pauses only briefly, as though appearing to consider where best to begin. ]
I come from a world very different from this one. We are a more feudal society, but we're still steeped in war and politics. It seems no matter the world, those things are inevitable. I hail from a land called Westeros where my family owned a small piece of land and the smallest of lordships to match. Fortunately for me, my father was friends with one of the greatest lords in Riverrun, and this great lord agreed to foster me during my youth. I learned many things during my stay, things that helped me to prosper later on in life.
When opportunity arose and an even greater lord needed a controller of customs in a large portion of land collectively known as the Vale, I was appointed for the task. And in my time there, I increased the flow of gold tenfold after the war had burned quickly through their supply. Because of my understanding for currency and how to effectively manage it, I was soon afterward appointed Master of Coin to the King. There, I served the kingdom for many years -- bringing prosperity and business to the capital of King's Landing.
But perhaps more importantly, the Master of Coin has a seat on something called the Small Council. There, I served as an advisor to the King himself. And, as you can imagine, this role is very similar to what being an ambassador would entail. You serve as a platform for the people and their problems, you try to work with the governing party on a solution to said problems, and if you are good at what you do, things will drastically improve. While I served them, the crown not only never hurt for finances, but great alliances were made with houses that had stood against us and things did drastically improve.
My work was recognized and I was awarded with a higher lordship, thus taking me away from the capital and onto many other endeavors. But that is a story for another time as I've already talked long enough about my past.
[ Petyr smiles ruefully, knowing that this is a bit longwinded. ]
The reason I spoke in such depth about my background, however, is because I believe I have the exact experience you need to work toward a brighter future. Why do men so often turn to crime? Crime brings them prosperity. It's dangerous, but relatively easy to fall into. Especially when you have few other options. How I seek to improve Maurtia Falls will be by creating job opportunities there, bringing affluence to the city so that families no longer have to rely so heavily on crime to support themselves. And we imPorts can make that happen by bringing our businesses over here. I will fight for tax incentives on imPort businesses. And I will use any profits I earn through the ones I manage and own to go toward the city's educational system. Knowledge is power, and these little ones deserve a chance to learn everything there is to learn and to have far better environments in which to learn. As a man who knows what it is like to come from very little, I would see to it that more shelters be available to those in need and that there are as many options in place as possible to ensure the natives of our city, and even neighboring cities, do not go hungry.
I would also fight to bridge the gap between the imPort cities. For far too long, we seemed to exist as separate entities, and I doubt it was out of a lack of interest. But if former ambassador Hundred's bid for the senate is any indication, we can accomplish many great things in this world if we put our minds to it. Ambassador Urquhart is working diligently to put together a foreign council, uniting imPorts to serve as our voice to representatives from other countries. So is it not about time for Maurtia Falls, De Chima, and Nonah to come together? Is it not time for our voices to unite? And is it not time to call for someone to represent you in Heropa as well? I find it strange how there are only three ambassadors to represent four imPort cities. Perhaps that is something we can work to change if people are interested, united as we will be if you choose to have me represent you in Maurtia Falls. Change is the constant drip of water pounding against a rock blocking the path, and the larger that drop is -- the more little drops that converge into one -- the faster this problematic rock can erode away.
I invite you to speak to me about your problems, concerns, and things you wish to either know about me or see changed within Maurtia Falls. I will confess that I have only been in this world for three months time. I have not had the opportunity to prove myself in the way Count Dooku has or the way Komasan has with his promise of soft cream dreams and futures. [ Said with a hint of a smile, as though he finds the whole thing so adorable. ] But what about those who prefer the hard ice cream? Should they be shunned for their preference?
What my two fellow candidates have in terms of experience and hope, what they have in terms of titles and accomplishments -- I make up for in a true desire to see Maurtia Falls not be looked at as the city of crime or the place where natives regard imPorts with disdain, but as the city of opportunity and change.
Count Dooku served as a part of the diplomatic team that opened Mexico's door to us, and that is a great and admirable accomplishment. But such talents should be utilized for foreign affairs instead of localized ones. He is not a man who should be tied to one single city, but one who should be free to represent us at large. He should be the voice for many, in much the same way former ambassador Hundred has chosen a senatorial path. Whereas I can promise you, my true focus would be on Maurtia Falls -- their natives and imPorts, how the city fits into the larger picture of imPort cities, and how they can unite with the other imPort cities toward a better future.
[ He reaches over to take a sip from a glass of water on his desk. ]
I will end this by turning the attention away from my campaign for a moment and toward those who fight to represent you in De Chima. You will find no better than Queen Lucy Pevensie. She is fair, just, and kind. And I do not say this simply because of my personal fondness for her. [ Petyr gently touches the jeweled pin at his sleeve. ] She puts the needs of others above her own. Compared to the royalty I have known, Her Grace is truly rare when it comes to her passion for her people and her desires to see a better world. She may be young, but she has seen war, she knows loss, and more than that, she inspires the best in people. She will listen to the voices of all, and decide from there the fairest course of action. I've no doubt she would inspire the best for her city. If you choose not to vote for me, then please at least vote for her. And if you do choose to vote for me, then vote for her as well. We may be a bit more old-fashioned, but because of our experiences, we better recognize what progression this world's democracy has made. I dare say, Queen Lucy and I were always a bit more modernized in our view of how things should progress back in each of our worlds and our experiences would only help not hinder representing you here and now.
If you view the timeline of life as a ladder, then we had a bit further to climb to adjust to this world than most. But our climb has taught us a great deal, and as we now stand on the same rungs as you all, I hope you choose to make this climb together with the both of us. May we, collectively, climb toward the future and together rise to new heights.
[ He bows his head. ]
Thank you for your time.

I cannot speak for Queen Lucy, but I would be more than happy to partake in this interview of yours. Perhaps it might be a wise idea to gather all the prospective candidates and have them interviewed. Not necessarily at once as there are quite a lot of us, but it would be nice to see each of our imPort candidates have equal air time.
video
I could provide a list of questions to each of you, and you could respond at your leisure, or-- something, I suppose. All of this is new to me. ( a small, almost hesitant smile. ) I'll let you know when I've figured something out.
video
Please do, my lady. And you are not the only one who finds this whole experience new. I've never done a proper 'interview' before. My world really has no need for such things -- no mediums through which to record them. So yours would be my first.
video
( prove that you can take it, and earn people's support for your power that way. because that's what all of this is about, isn't it? she can't imagine a place where the deep desire to do good can outweigh people's inherently ambitious natures. if they're ambitious at all, of course, and lack any real skill. )
A first interview and a first-time voter. ( maybe mark can manage the announcements to say something similar, if the draw of newness would generate interest. something to think about, at any rate. ) Lady Tej Vorpatril, by the way.
( the lady part, like his lord, being completely optional at this point. )
video
It is my honor to meet you, Lady Vorpatril. [ Vorpatril. Vorkosigan. Somewhat modernized feudal societies? He has a suspicion she might come from the same world as Miles and Gregor. ]
It sounds to me as though we come from similar worlds. Yours, being a bit more advanced than mine, but no less dangerous. A king could only rule as well as he could defend his own life in my world.
video
dada didn't make mistakes, nor did the baronne. so how had they lost? an inside job> maybe, but who? ) And others often make attempts on it, yes. That's just business.
video
[ He corrects gently, trying to make it seem as though he's doing her a favor by shortening how she can address him. ]
Did you see such attempts happen often to the rulers in your lands?
video
video
Jacksonian? I am afraid that is a term unfamiliar to me. [ A beat. ] And where do you fit into all of this, Lady Vorpatril?
video
( not a fate worse than death, but one step ahead of it. as tej is. )
video
Could you not build your own house? Or does your world not provide such opportunities? Back home, my entire family died, leaving me as the sole member of House Baelish. Because of that, I was able to rebuild my image, house and banner. Would such a thing be within the realm of possibility for you as well?
video
That is standard practice, yes. ( but tej lacks the ambition, the desire. no, all she wants to do is survive and stop running. the past seven months, and has it really been seven? it seems too long for so much to have happened, have been full of near misses, of running. she's tired, she wants to stop. ) Which is why most members of the House with the motivation or means to do so are killed.
( hunted across planets. she's so tired of it all, even here, removed from it as she is. tej doesn't know what she's going to do -- but she knows she doesn't, isn't the right person to retake the house. her siblings have always been much better at that sort of thing. if they survived. at least amiri should be safe, on escobar.
tej ducks her head, swallows back the sadness again. no, no more crying. )
video
It can be...most difficult to find your way in the world when the stakes are that high and danger lingers close to anyone who tries to get ahead. From the way it sounds in your world as well as my own, there is no justice. Not unless you choose to make it with your own hands.
video
( jackson's whole operates on the idea of the self-made man more than any other place in the nexus. justice and revenge are no different. )
Good luck to you, Lord Baelish. As far as I understand politics here are not so high stakes as they are in our worlds.
video
I thank you, Lady Vorpatril. And I do hope you will cast your vote for me. If not after our conversation now, then perhaps after our future interview. I greatly look forward to meeting you in person.
video
( a small incline of her head before she cuts the feed. )
