[ Posted to the Mirror net. After talking to a couple of people about his situation, some of them did point out Sasaki was being kept under government’s thumb. others have pointed that out before, but they never made it sound like it was a bad situation. Only recently. Everyone is so paranoid )= ]

This isn’t new and in case you didn’t know: I am biologically a ghoul and that means I can only consume humans. If you have questions, I can answer but that’s not why I’m writing this. It’s not that difficult for a ghoul to find food, and I’m not talking about hurting people; I would never do that. You have morgues, cemeteries, suicides and humans killing each other. However, it's illegal; you cannot steal bodies, you can’t temper with murder scenes, and people wish to bury their loved ones. The government knows my dietary needs and that's why I can’t just tell them I’ll handle my own diet - because that’s the same as telling them I’ll do something wrong. They told me if I was registered, I can have access to bodies donated to science; if I’m not registered, I don’t and thus I’d go back to the first part of the issue: they’d know I don’t have access to their food, they’d know I would have to get it somewhere else, and they’d know whatever I would do in order to get it would be considered wrong and illegal. I’m registered because I need to eat. This is the sole reason why Kaneki was registered, and he hated it because he felt like he was pledging alliance to a government only just so he wouldn’t starve. Myself, I’m used to this because it’s the same sort of agreement I have in my world: I’m allowed to live and eat and be treated as a human, as long as I work for the CCG and obey their orders. It’s true the government here could force me to obey them if they wanted, and I would do it. And some of you find that awful, I know. But let’s be honest, what other choice is there? What would you do in this situation? Still , the government hasn’t given anyone orders, and honestly – perks aside – I still don’t see the big difference between registered and unsettled. So I do wonder, what’s the difference? What makes you decide you prefer to be unsettled and not registered? Or the other way around (besides the benefits). What's bad about one and another, or good?

But if we are living in their society, even if not by our choice, isn't it natural to follow their authority? Though, even as Unsettled, it's still necessary in the end, even if publicly against it by carrying a tattoo. I've always seen registration as a rather "show-off" thing. In order to show the natives they have support from Heroes, in order to show the world imPorts support them - even if not all. Like this, the natives will be excited and happy to have us, and not see us as the aliens we are, who are taking their things and receiving their money (which is what some people would think, if it was regarding immigrants or refugees from their own world). [ people are assholes. ]

Of course, one is expected to follow the rules of the house they live in. But in a free society, there are limits to how much those rules may interfere with the life of the individual. And in your case, I would argue that the threat of starvation is a very great interference indeed.

I do agree that the main purpose of the system is surely political. Every imPort who submits to Registration makes a statement of support to the government's way of doing things. It creates the image of legitimacy to both our presence and their authority over us. Yet that is all it is: an image, nothing more.

I think the issue here is that no one knows how to deal with ghouls. Most people see me, think I'm kind, and that's enough. I do not think it's enough, Count, and neither would anyone from my world. I do understand what you mean, but I think I'm just used to a different reality. [ and yet Sasaki has a real bad time admitting that this reality is, too, different from his own ]

It's certainly what it feels like. Though, it is a shame they do not have a middle-term for it. Some imPorts are just rather neutral about it all.

There is great irony here. Your very kindness allows you to reconcile yourself to how they treat you, just as it inspires your friends to object this injustice. You empathize with what the authorities want, but you deny yourself your own desires.

Sasaki, I ask that you open your eyes to the truth. In this reality, there is a simple and merciful way to deal with imPort ghouls: provide them with food whether or not they Register. The government has refused to walk this path for a reason.

I don't have any desires about this. [ AHAHAHA if only someone would believe that, Sasaki, you goof. ]

What about health insurance to non-registered imPorts? Why isn't it also provided to them? People can't leave without medicine, either, and yet that is happening as well. The government has refused to change my issue, but they also refused many other issues. I'm hardly special.

Do not deceive yourself. You desire more than this. You do not need to hide it, my friend. It is perfectly natural to want such things, especially when you deserve them.

And the same principle applies to the rest of the imPorts, especially the Unsettled. To withhold medicine and to withhold food are two sides of the same coin.

The authorities must cease their refusal to change course on these issues. I am confident that one day they will. I will see to it personally.

They haven't changed ever; a lot of imports have complained about it, and yet they never changed their minds. Do you really think they'll change their minds?

I do indeed. They are politicians, and I know how politicians think. We only have to make it clear that changing their minds is in their best interests, and it will be done. Unfortunately, such a feat will require far more than simple complaining.

They have a whole country to convince as well. We already have benefits over the natives and their government appeases them by telling them we are Heroes. if they start to give us more, it won't be as easy. it already isn't.

Perhaps that is the case. But the people can be easily swayed, especially by those who wield the power of fame.

Tell me, do your fans know how the government "persuaded" you to Register? What might they think if they knew you were treated in this way? Such an outcry could become most inconvenient for our hosts.

I don't want any fans, Count Dooku. And I sure don't want to use them, either. Plus, most of them are actual teenagers. [ they even have a website, called the "Kennibals". ]

Then they don't know yet.

You should consider speaking out, Sasaki. There is power in the enthusiasm of youth. Remember how things turned out the last time you decided to end your silence regarding how you were treated.

This is not a mere fight between imPorts, Count. I'm not going to bring to general public my right to consume human flesh.

Yet the general public is responsible for electing the government that now controls your food. These matters are all connected.

It is of course your decision in the end. But I urge you to think it over carefully. You do not need to live this way. Things could be made better for you.
