Does anyone believe that there's people you're just supposed to meet? I don't know if I'd call it fate, but I mean the idea that there are just some people you're supposed to know no matter what. That the universe or universes figure out a way to make everything line up even if it really shouldn't. Or it makes no sense for it to happen and yet it does anyway.

I know asking this is weird considering what happened earlier this month but...I went home and when I got back I started thinking about it. That maybe here you meet people you're supposed to and maybe at home you do and if you're lucky they somehow intersect. It's cheesy, but...sometimes you just have to wonder if certain things are supposed to be fixed in your life.

It could have been. I think sometimes you have to know people who do things like that to...learn from them I guess.

Yes, yes, yes! If it's not fate, it's destiny of some kind 'cause that's how I met my best friend. Well, I knew her from the year before but we became best friends when I enrolled in her school this year!

That...My best friend and I are like that. I mean we were friends, really close friends because we lived close together but something happened when I was ten and it wasn't a good thing but it led to us living together and our friendship being even stronger. Best friends for life.

Super cheesy. Tempted to refute that with: it's probably brain chemistry mediating attachment behaviors, and humanity's search for order in the universe coupled with our need to feel "special"--because, yeah, totally, the universe has lined everyone up with neat and tidy fixed-points.

That said, and speaking as a man who doesn't believe in Fate or a Higher Power, it's nevertheless comforting, if you believe in the multiverse, to think that other versions of me meet other versions of him, regardless of the factors of our existences and that even in my own, this is one good thing I couldn't fuck up even if I'd tried.

I'd accept you refuting it though, if only because while there are certain things science cannot explain...if my more biologically inclined friend was were, she'd agree with you. On the brain chemistry part at least. She did also hold out hope about a not dead fiancee and she was right on that front.

I don't necessarily believe in fate, but I got to see my friend again after I never thought I'd get to again.

Works enough for me.

When something like that happens, pretty sure that works well enough for everyone.

Because who doesn't love seeing a friend when you thought they were gone for good. Or just gone far enough away that you can't see them.

Kind of hurt you didn't go for meeting me as fate, though. I have to admit.

there's always people you're supposed to meet.

i wouldn't say they repeat. you can stop cycles that shouldn't happen from happening.

Sometimes being around certain people feels right, even if there's no earthly reason why it should. It happens.

Anyway, things like that aren't so hard to believe in once you give them a chance.

The universe finds a way to make things happen. I felt like that with some friends of mine because trust me, there's no way we would have gotten to know each other if it wasn't for what happened.

I'm pretty sure it still happens even if you're not willing to give it a chance, though. You just can't really recognize the idea.
